No Water!

If the municipal supply fails...

Last Update 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Ugu municipality are constantly working on the water system. If the water is slow it could even eventually stop completely. It slows down because our area is at the end of the supply chain as we are the lowest lying. Should it stop completely:
1) In the top built in cupboard in bedroom 3 is a switch - use it to turn on the pump that supplies water from the emergency tanks (1600lt) of clean, drinkable water.

2) the green tank in the carport also holds fresh clean drinkable water in an emergency when there is no Eskom power to drive the pump in 1 above.. You can draw water from it at the brown plastic tap outside the entrance door. Just ensure that the bottom supply tap is open.

Use the reserve tanks sparingly to get the most days out of the available supply.

Four guests should have enough water for five days if the following suggestions are adhered to:

  • Do not shower for longer than 5 minutes at a time.
  • Each person should not shower more than once per day.
  • Purchase bottled water for drinking and cooking.
  • Use the toilets as infrequently as possible.

When the municipal supply is restored the reserve tanks are automatically replenished. If you are aware that the municipal supply has been restored you can turn off the pump.

Take Note! If there is a power blackout at the same time as no water, the pump will not work and you will be without piped water into the house - use the green tank in the carport!
